Guano Co was born in 1982, deep in the redwoods of Trinidad, California—at a time when Humboldt County pulsed with rebellion, resilience, and raw connection to the land. The Back-to-the-Land movement was still alive, with communes and homesteads dotting the forested hills. The “CAMP” era (Campaign Against Marijuana Planting) had just begun, turning rural life into a delicate balance of survival, secrecy, and self-sufficiency. It was wild in every sense—untamed, unregulated, and unrelenting.
Amid that chaos, a different kind of vision took root: to nourish the soil instead of exploiting it. Guano Co emerged not as a grow operation, but as a soil-first supply company—dedicated to offering organic inputs like seabird and bat guano, earthworm castings, and kelp meal sourced with integrity from across the globe. The idea was simple: healthy plants start with living soil, and great cultivation begins from the ground up.
What started as a small wholesaling operation in a historic barn has since grown into a nationally distributed brand—still committed to that same wild-hearted ethos: do it naturally, do it right, and let the land lead the way.
